The Dremel Velocity VC60 is the power tool that bridges the gap between traditional oscillating tools and rough-cutting tools, such as reciprocating saws and circular saws. The Velocity tool allows you to tackle larger jobs that other traditional oscillating tools can’t. With a powerful 7.0 AMP motor, an integrated control foot, 5 degrees of oscillation angle and a newly designed, patented drive system, users can now feel confident about making long and accurate cuts quickly in a variety of materials. Velocity is a two position tool; with the control foot open, the tool is great for making long, accurate cuts in panel materials and with the control foot closed, the tool is a high-powered traditional oscillating tool optimal for any cutting, scraping, sanding, grinding or grout removal application. The Velocity is an ideal tool for professional remodelers who want a fast-cutting, low dust tool to get through a variety of materials for any indoor job, such as a bathroom or kitchen remodel. It’s also great for the home owners who want one tool that does it all, rather than spending money on multiple tools to cut plywood, drywall, conduit, PVC pipe, 2 x 4 and tile backer during home repairs.

Nice Tool For Many Jobs This is a powerful tool that helped me on some cuts in confined areas. I wish they had a 4″ diameter blade for straight cuts on wood and sheet rock. The body of the tool really limits cut depth. I cannot make the 3″ blade cut all the way through 3/4″ board with a single cut. I don’t find changing the cutting blade that easy, the blade has to stay balanced in place as you close the locking lever.Make sure, make sure, you unplug the tool before changing blades. And make sure the tool is switched off before you plug it in. I found the on – off switch a little counter-intuitive. Work safely, this guy can cut you badly………Later………having used this now on several jobs, including cutting cement board siding, I have come to appreciate this tool much more. It takes some practice to get really good at making the tool work at well as it can.
Too Heavy, Too Hot To Handle After 15 Minutes of Use, First observation was that the tool was too heavy and the motor body is very large to handle in a one hand to maneuver with any precision – I am 6′ 4″ and I have large hands. After about 15 minutes of use the tool became too hot to handle. I suspect this is the result of the 7 amp motor. My tool settings were 1 and 4 (lowest end settings). The off/on switch is in awkward position and difficult to actuate. Another purchaser brought up the switch jamming do to debris accumulation in the recessed switch well. I agree that this could be a potential problem as well based on my observation. Returned and I am going to purchase the Rockwell F80. I already own a Rockwell F50 and have been very satisfied with it. I bought the Dremel VC60 because of the 7 amp rating thinking that was a quantum leap in cutting performance, but the problems out-weigh the increase power.
Dremel VC 60 – good and bad The Dremel VC 60 has significant more power than the Dremel oss tool I purchased a number of years back – I was able to cut through plaster with no difficulty. However there are some quality issues – most significant is the blade release lever. Appears to loosen after a few uses. Also – troubling is the difficulty in determining which blade fits the appropriate dremel model. They are not interchangeable – and the VC 60 does not appear to be a “well known Model” . The model does not appear within the box stores – therefore replacement blades are not easily obtained.
