Ray Booth’s debut monograph presents curated home interiors by this master of modern elegance.
Trained as an architect, designer Ray Booth’s distinctively elegant, strikingly evocative spaces exude modernism while reflecting a sense of place and history. Booth’s creativity is palpable in spectacular homes demonstrating his ability to harmonize open-plan interiors with the surrounding landscape.
Presented here are Booth’s most celebrated Nashville residences and never-before-seen projects in Palm Beach, Louisiana, New York, Texas, and the Hamptons. Each illustrates his innovative use of furniture as architecture to define rooms, draperies in place of walls, captivating displays of art and mirrors, and an eclectic mix of antiques and contemporary pieces. Among the house profiles is Booth’s Nashville home, which shows the influence of Frank Lloyd Wright and the Prairie School, and reveals his appreciation for traditional materials, particularly large expanses of glass, masonry, and wood. Within a new home or one with a history, Booth applies a fresh vision for today’s living, including fabrics and furnishings accentuating his modern style. Evocative Interiors brings to the fore the work of this leading designer.

Modern Luxury Captured Nice Rizzoli book. Big pictures. Ray Booth pulls a very luxurious note, inter-mixing modern and antique elements. He uses a lot of strong horizontals, suspended consoles and floor-to-ceiling drapes on tracks. Clearly, he is used to having access to high ceilings and spaces that verge on commercial in scale and feel. I found his work welcoming. As an adult, it was easy to imagine settling into his designs.
The most beautiful modern houses youâll find. Ray creates houses and interiors of dreams. Gorgeous sense of scale, balance, surprise.A master of design.
Full of feeling After falling in love with and purchasing Interior Design Master Class, I found this book on my recommendations list. The sample pages I browsed were enough for me to give it a try, but combined with the kind words from IDMC, I was sold. What a stunning and emotional book! I have been trying to read a range of interior design works, but this one truly stands out. I honestly felt overwhelmed by some of the spreads, and how Booth seems to perfectly balance color, texture, and especially light. He accompanies the gorgeous photos with notes on why he chose the structure and elements of the rooms, and how each contributes to the overall balance of the space. As an architect and a designer, Booth offers more than just a guide to selecting or arranging the decor. He sees the whole picture from foundation to finished product, and the result is so cohesive and joyful. This book taught me a lot about what harmony looks and feels like. You will return to this again and again…highly recommended!
