User Instruction
It requires a hand drill with a 3/8″(10mm) or larger chuck to cut holes from 1-5/8″(40mm) to 8″(200mm) in diameter and materials up to 3/4″(19mm) thick from one side, 1-1/8″(30mm) thick from two sides
Caution
* When cutting into walls, floors or ceilings, always check to ensure that no electric cables or water pipes etc are in the vicinity of the proposed cut
* Always keep the cutting blades sharp
* Do not use undue force, or too great a drill speed, suggested cutting speeds

* Ensure the cutting blade holders are tight before use
* Make sure to measure the CUTOUT for the product (speaker, recessed light) you are installing. The size of the product you are installing uses a larger cutout, and the needed size is different by manufacturer of the canned light or the speaker
* Screw the wing nut on to the threaded end of the spindle so that that assembly is secure
* As with any new tool, always test on a scrap piece of material to get familiar with the tool

Best tool ever for an old house I’ve been remodeling my old 1950’s house with plaster and cement board walls /ceilings. I had previously done a few recessed lights with a sawzall and it dulled the blades incredibly fast and was really messy. After ordering this I can’t believe I did it any other way. This made the job of cutting the holes so incredibly quick and clean I will never do it any other way again. The Carbide tips being included was a huge plus, as they stayed razor sharp for all twenty cuts I made.
Cuts perfect holes once you figure it out. Don’t run it too fast! The instruction page for the tool is not very good. And you have to be careful to follow the diagram for blade orientation. My blades came installed in a way that was indicated as a NO-NO in the instructions. the instructions do not mention anything about two screws on the outside of the bar that holds the blades, but i found out about them quick. If you don’t tighten the screws down (they do not appear to do anything – don’t know why they are there) they will loosen during operation and start rubbing on the inside of the plastic hood, disrupting the operation of the tool. it took me 2 full holes to realize what was happening before i took it apart and tightened the screws down with a screwdriver. The other thing is speed. I was drilling 6″ holes and if i went too fast on the RPM dust would start flying out of the hood. You have to keep the RPM moderate and the the dust barely escapes at all. Drilled 10 holes through 3/4″ drywall with no problems. DEFINITELY worth the money.
Cost-effective alternative This worked great. I put a dozen holes in my kitchen/dining room for recessed lighting and there was no noticeable difference in performance from the first to the last cut. I didn’t use any of the other components in the case, just the shield and the bit that came attached to the blades. Adjusting the hole diameter was not difficult and I managed to get a nice tight fit for my lighting. The blades are removable, which suggests that you can either sharpen them yourself (file or whetstone) or buy replacements somewhere, but given how sharp they still are, I don’t see me ever needing to do that.
